Presentation
The Quantum Communication and Computing Workshop addresses a very important topic in technology research that has the potential to impact the future of technological areas and significantly contribute to transforming society in the next decade.
The growing interest in research in this area was increased in 2017 with the demonstration of quantum communication with the entanglement of photons at a distance of 1,200 kilometers. And, after, in 2019, with the claim of the reach of Quantum Supremacy.
These advances are promising to consider that the quantum technology will allow establishing communication with teleportation of data and orders of magnitude superior to that realized by optical fibers.
Additionally, research in Quantum Cryptography has made important discoveries with relevant impacts in the area of security, with significant developments in the revision of quantum key distribution protocols and aspects of device independence. It has also brought challenges for long-distance communications, such as satellites and high transmission rate protocols.
In this area of research, quantum computing and the quantum distribution of symmetric keys are among the most successful applications, with the rapid evolution of theoretical proposals for commercial products. In addition, there are other challenges in the area of quantum information science such as information privacy and network computing, where quantum technologies can offer new functionality to communication and computing systems.
WQuantum 2021, in its first edition, aims to disseminate discussions, information, views, and knowledge in Quantum Communication and Computing. It is also expected, due to the importance of this theme, that this Workshop will have a recurrence in future editions of SBRC.
